SUCCESSFUL FELLING OF THE NORTHERN POWER STATION CENTRE BUNKER
A 47m high, 3000T steel coal bunker structure at the Augusta Power stations site was successfully demolished at 9am this morning using explosive charges.
The charges were precision designed by specialist engineers to remove lower sections of support beams, to enable a highly controlled fall into a designated zone.
The felling of the structure will enable mechanical processing to now occur at ground level.
Flinders Power would like to thank McMahon Services, Precision Demolition and Tait Condon Engineers for the safe and successful operation.
There were no concerning dust or weather related issues during this morning’s blast.
The iconic 200m high Northern stack remains on schedule for demolition in July this year (TBC).
