NEWS ALERT – 25th January 2018
SUCCESSFUL FELLING OF PLAYFORD B CHIMNEY
An 80m high concrete and brick chimney at the Augusta Power stations site was successfully demolished at 9am this morning using explosive charges.
The demolition involved what is known as the Playford B stack.
The explosive charges were designed to weaken the base of the stack, enabling a highly controlled fall in a designated zone.
There were no dust or weather related issues during this morning’s operation.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The stack felled this morning is NOT the iconic 200m high Northern stack, which remains on schedule for demolition in April/May this year TBC.
