Media Release: 7 September 2017

SUCCESSFUL DEMOLITION AT NORTHERN POWER STATION

Demolition work using explosives was successfully completed at the Northern Power Station site in Port Augusta this morning.

The Turbine Generator Ring Beams (which are the foundations for the Turbine Generator Stators in the Turbine Hall) were demolished at 9am. While the activity took place inside the Turbine Hall, a small amount of dust was visible outside the building at the point of detonation, but it did not leave the site.

A spokesperson for Flinders Power said that following today’s event, demolition of the Turbine Hall would continue, as planned, using conventional demolition processes.
